This super fan couple had a McVitie’s Jaffa Wedding Cake created just for them!
After their original wedding plans fell through when their venue went into administration, Tristan and Maria Weedon hadn’t had time to organise a wedding cake, until McVitie’s saved the day.
The couple, who estimate they’ve enjoyed almost 4,000 of their favourite zesty treats together, commented on a McVitie’s Facebook post about how much they love Jaffa Cakes, and the rest is history!
Designed by Paul Courtney, McVitie’s Culinary Innovation Manager, the Jaffa Wedding Cake was an impressive three-tiered Jaffa inspired sponge, covered by almost 1,000 original Jaffa Cakes which took 12 hours to make. Paul also created Prince William’s ‘Groom’s Cake’ for his 2011 wedding to Kate Middleton – a chocolate fridge cake was made using 1,700 McVitie’s Rich Tea biscuits!
Bride Maria said: “Jaffa Cakes have been involved in our relationship ever since Tristan bought them along to our first date and I couldn’t stop laughing! We still have mini competitions to see who can eat around them the closest – leaving just the orange bit – and always get McVitie’s Jaffa Poles for each other at Christmas. Being big fans of Jaffa Cakes we loved being able to incorporate something so fun and unique into our special day.”
We’re officially jealous!
