Bride April’s vision was brought to life at an incredible wedding in Hawaii. Here she reveal all the big day details…
How did Arda propose?
“He surprised me with a weekend getaway to Big Sur, California, where we took a much-needed break from work and went cycling and kayaking. We hiked up to a remote waterfall where we perched looking over the ocean from afar when he pulled out his camera and told me to smile for a selfie. By the time I set my backpack down and turned around for the photo, he was on one knee and told me that he wanted to make me smile for the rest of my life!”
What dress did you wear?
“I wore an Essense of Australia design. I always wanted long-sleeve lace, but getting married in Hawaii made me want to have a back-up option for after the formal pictures, which was cooler for dancing. My second dress was by Leanne Marshall.”
And the accessories?
“I wore pearl and diamond drop earrings and a white opal and diamond necklace that was a gift from my husband. I also wore Badgley Mischka shoes.”
What did Arda wear?
“He wore a black Calvin Klein classic tuxedo. We wanted everyone to match overall, so to help him stand apart, instead of a buttonhole our florist made a whole pocket square of flowers that tied in to my bouquet.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“My dad walked me through this amazing archway and inside there were hanging chandeliers and hanging flowers. Through the flowers I saw my first glimpse of the love of my life. It
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“They wore the Anabelle dress in Sea Glass by Jenny Yoo. My sister was my matron of honour, my cousin next in line. I had one friend from childhood, one cousin and the rest were friends from work/medical school.”
What was your theme?
“Our theme was traditional elegance. I wanted to create an elegant space that anyone from the past and future hundred years could step into and feel that this was a timeless wedding.”
What’s your saving tip?
“Your best investment will be a wedding planner. He or she will know the industry well and be able to advise you on where to save and splurge. We had an amazing planner that saved us both time and money. She translated our vision into something within our budget.”
