Bride Kat reveals all about her gorgeous vintage themed wedding…
How did Jamie propose?
“Jamie had plans to propose on top of a Swiss mountain on his 30th birthday. However, he started panicking over scenarios of security guards emptying his bag, so he proposed at home in our living room and few days before we went!”
What dress did you wear?
“I had no idea what style or shape would suit me but I liked lace, vintage styling. I came across Chanticleer and found my nearest shop was Brides of Winchester. They were having a Chanticleer event so I booked an appointment. With the help of Laura at the boutique, I whittled down the search. I loved the delicate lace and bodice of one, but the feel and swish of the skirt on another and couldn’t decide. Tracey from Chanticleer said ‘let’s do both!’ and sketched the ideal dress for me! I ended up with a bespoke dress that I absolutely loved.”
And the accessories?
“Hayley at Brides of Winchester found me a beautiful long veil from The Couture Veil. In my hair I found a pearl hair slide from Once Upon A Time Tiaras and I wore a sapphire necklace of my mother’s and Irregular Choice shoes.”
What did Jamie wear?
“We went into Moss Bros and Jamie immediately pointed to the Newbury, which was full tails and a cravat.”
What dresses did your bridesmaids wear?
“I eventually struck gold in BHS. It was a darker mint green than anywhere else I’d seen and looked perfect. My flowergirl wore a John Lewis dress.”
What was your theme?
“As a lover of all things vintage, my dress was very important to me and the other things just seemed to fall into place. I like to get crafty and so I spent a lot of time collecting vintage books, jars, bottles and jugs to display on the tables with lace, pearl and burlap decorations. No table was the same, there were tealights and bunting everywhere and the barn just set everything off perfectly!”
What was your best buy?
“I made a lot of things myself, but we really enjoyed the instant camera guest book. I bought a Fujifilm instant camera from ebay, a load of film and a guest book from Paperchase in a sale then left it for guests to play with. It was brilliant seeing people snap themselves or each other then stick the photos in the book with captions, messages or even a limerick. Seeing photos at the start then after a few drinks coming back was really funny!”
