Real bride Claudia tells us about her chic wedding with red carpet-worthy dress!
What dress did you wear?
“I wore a Ronald Joyce gown called Erin, bought from Darcy Weddings. The lady at the shop picked it out because she thought I would suit it, I hadn’t even noticed it! I ended up falling in love with the dress.”
And the accessories?
“I bought a veil from Darcy Weddings too, and a huge headpiece, which I bought at a wedding fair. My bridal shoes were
from John Lewis.”
What did Nicholas wear?
“He wore a kilt in Granite City tartan – his family tartan – which he hired from Debenhams. All the ushers wore this as well but my husband had the sash and a different coloured cravat to stand out from the others.”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“I had my two sisters as maids of honour, my sister-in-law and two friends were the bridesmaids and my little niece was my flowergirl. They all had different dresses bought from anywhere ranging between a boutique in Italy to TK Maxx! My flowergirl’s dress was from Fenwick.”
What was your best buy?
“My best buy was my dress. I had so many compliments and I absolutely loved wearing it. The girls at the shop were amazing and made it a real experience for me, my mum and bridesmaids. I will never look back on the photographs or video and wish I had chosen a different dress. I loved it so much, it was worth every penny.”
What’s your saving tip?
“If you have a creative mind (either you or someone in your family), use it. My mum and I did all our own table decorations. We went to a wedding supplier’s warehouse and saved so much money. We only spent a few hundred on the decorations instead of a few thousand. It was also great fun and meant I got exactly what I wanted. My sister is a make-up artist so she did my make-up, which saved lots of money. She did it perfectly and exactly how I wanted it. Another bonus of knowing someone with great skills that’s willing to help you out for free.”
