Larissa and Andy reveal all about their rustic, music themed wedding, with an acoustic set around the campfire!
How did Andy Propose?
Andy proposed at my place of work! We moved house and got married all in a 12 month period so money was tight. About 2 years before the wedding Andy said to me that we could get married in 2015 as we new we would have a chunk of money coming in. My reply was “great I’ll start planning but that’s not your proposal as I don’t except”! I started getting to work on the wedding but was minus a ring and a proposal. About 3 months before our set date I had a massive surprise as Andy had arranged a consultation with a ring designer so I got to design my own unique wedding and engagement ring. I wasn’t entirely sure when the ring would arrive but when it did Andy just got a taxi to my place of work and asked me! I felt really shocked, which would have been hard to feel had he done it any other way! It really was totally unexpected.
My dress was a Pre-loved Benjamin Roberts Tia dress with a lace bolero.
What did Andy wear?
Andy wore a suit he hired from Moss Bros along with his 3 best men, his dad and my dad.
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
I was so calm and chilled through the whole planning and getting ready. I never lost site of what the day was about. I only saw him down the end of the aisle and can’t remember seeing anyone else. I felt excited yet calm – apparently I zoomed down!
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
My bridesmaids were my best friends and played a massive part in my life and naturally our big day. I loved having them with me in the morning getting ready. They were all more nervous then me. My flower girls were our two girls Seren and Abbie. Their dresses were from debenhams.
What was your theme?
Our wedding theme was music as myself and Andy are massive music fans. I handmade all our table decorations with music sheets and lyrics of our favourite bands and songs. Our guests each had a jar filled with music sheets that reminded us of them!
What was the highlight of your day?
The highlight of my day apart from the service itself was our band, Cab Collective. Andy first saw them in Morzine when snowboarding one year, bought their album and we were hooked. I was so excited when they agreed to drive over and perform on our special day! Our first dance was ‘Relic’ – one of their songs. John the lead singer also did an acoustic set around the camp fire at about two in the morning. I’ll never forget that. They stayed in a shepherd’s hut at the venue that night and woke up hungover with everyone else!
What was your best buy?
My best buy was my cake as it was made of cheese and doubled up as a dessert. Nothing went to waste and everyone says what a good idea it was.
What’s your planning tip?
Spend money on good food and wine and a quality band to create atmosphere. And of course, a good photographer as the very next day all you have is your pictures and possibly a hangover!
