A beautiful setting and gorgeous rustic details. Bride Danielle shares all the details about her stunning outdoor ceremony…
How did Robin propose?
“In the desert outside Dubai, in the Empty Quarter. He got down on one knee after we’d walked to the top of a sand dune before sunset.”
What dress did you wear?
“My dress was by Justin Alexander. I had bought another one six months before the wedding, but when I went for the final fitting three weeks before the big day, the shop had accidently sold it to someone else! Luckily I found this one – and it was better than the original.”
And the accessories?
“Laura Payne Millinery made my real flower crown and did a wonderful job. The jewellery I wore all had sentimental value. A pearl bracelet my mum gave me; a pair of pearl earrings my grandmother gave me, and Robin gave me a diamond necklace as a wedding present. My favourite accessory was a platinum, diamond and sapphire ring that my mother-in-law lent me that had belonged to Robin’s grandmother.”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“My three best friends – Jenny, Beccy and Louise. I bought material and beading and a lovely lady made the dresses for us.”
What did Robin wear?
“Ted Baker grey tails, brown brogues, a waistcoat and cravat.”
What was your theme?
“Bringing nature into our day became a theme. We found Hestercombe and loved the gardens, especially the waterfall. Verdigris Venue Dressing did the larger decorations, adding drapes to the hall with fairylights and hanging grass balls with fuchsia garlands to bring the outside in. Our stationery was by Vicky Bentham-Green Illustrations and Eclectic Bliss provided beautiful vintage crockery.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“The whole experience really was greater than the sum of its parts. Saying ‘I do’ by the waterfall with our friends and families was definitely fairytale-esque.”
What was your best buy?
“Our photographer. The day went so quickly but Simon really captured the emotions of the day. The photos also allowed us to enjoy things we didn’t see, like people playing croquet or dance moves in the evening!”
What’s your saving tip?
“We rented potted plants from a local nursery. We had to pay a small rental fee, and then returned all the plants two days later. In total all our flowers cost us around £40.”
