A quintessentially English day with pastel hues throughout. Bride Amelia reveals all…
How did Mark propose?
“New Year’s Eve! Lots of our family and friends who we were celebrating New Year with us in our local pub in North curry were there. We went outside into the village square and all counted down. After New Year had struck, all our family and friends had made a circle around us. With that, Mark started speaking and got down on one knee. It was amazing! My dad had quickly acquired a bottle of bubbly, which was then toasted after my obvious acceptance.”
What dress did you wear?
“I chose a Mori Lee dress from Champagne & Strawberries in Taunton.”
And the accessories?
“I chose a full-length tulle veil with Ivory edging, which I also ordered from Champagne & Strawberries. I had a gypsophila headdress made by my florist Michelle from Bloomin Lovely, which was so beautiful.”
What did Mark wear?
“Suits were hired from Anne Harding in Bristol. They were blue with paler vintage-style waistcoats. The boys had pocket watches as their presents, which finished the outfits off brilliantly.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“Complete joy! The man I love was stood waiting to marry me. I felt like the luckiest girl in the world.”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“My sister Charlotte and my friend Sophie. Their dresses were from Next and their shoes were from Bridezilla in Bristol.”
What was your theme?
“Vintage garden party. I chose mainly pink and taupe tones. I love vintage shabby chic decor and used pieces of my own furniture to decorate the marquee. I enjoy doing crafts, so made and collected a lot of the items I used. I absolutely loved dressing the marquee.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“During our afternoon tea I just sat down and took everything in, watching all of our family and friends chatting, eating and drinking together. I thought to myself how amazing it was that they had come together to celebrate with Mark and I.”
What was your best buy?
“My wedding stamp from stampdirect.com. I made all the wedding stationery with it!”
What’s your saving tip?
“Make sure you buy a glue gun! You can accomplish anything with one and save £££s!”
