This beautiful beachside day was perfect for our surf-loving couple. Jess tells all…
How did Tom propose?
“It was the day before my 30th birthday. Tom woke me up saying he was going to cook me whatever breakfast I wanted and that I had to wait upstairs while he was cooking. This was unusual, but I thought it was deserved as it was my birthday weekend! Tom came upstairs and asked me to close my eyes, then guided me downstairs into the living room. He then asked me to open my eyes, and in front of me was a beautiful brand new surfboard! On it Tom had written ‘Happy 30th Birthday Jess. P.S…’ Then he turned the surfboard around and it said ‘Will you marry me?’ Tom then held out the ring and a bottle of champagne! That night we celebrated my 30th and our engagement with all of our friends.”
What dress did you wear?
“It was a beautiful backless lace dress by Amanda Garrett, bought from Luella’s Boudoir.”
And the accessories?
“I wore turquoise earrings and a necklace from Rhossili Gallery, and a bracelet that my maid of honour made for me.”
What did Tom wear?
“Beige chinos and a blue shirt from Topman, a cream bow tie and grey waistcoat.”
How did you feel when you saw him up the aisle?
“I felt very excited, nervous and a little tipsy after some champagne the girls and I had drunk when getting ready!”
Who were your bridesmaids and what dresses did they wear?
“All the bridesmaids chose their own dresses from a variety of shops, the only criteria was for them to be cream and to be short or knee length. They were my maid of honour Kate and my friends Rachel, Jenny, Sarah and Sali.”
What was your theme?
“A surf/beach wedding theme and the colour scheme was turquoise and cream. I used Pinterest a lot to help with ideas and all my friends helped to make lots of various things for the wedding.”
What’s your saving tip?
“To make as many things as possible to lower the costs, such as wedding invites, seating plans, place names etc.”
What was the highlight of your day?
“I thought the worst bit was going to be the ceremony as all eyes would be on us, but this one of the best parts of the day as it was really special and meaningful. I loved the speeches too, they were all amazing!”
